Ryan Cedro

I watched Ryan Cedro at the skatepark since he started, but I didn’t talk to him for a while because we both tended to skate instead of sit and talk.  As someone said to me when I started skateboarding, “it’s a skatepark, not a sit park.”  Ryan embodies that saying to me, so I liked him from the get-go.

I remember noticing him working on nothing else but kickflips off a bigger box at the park for days, if not weeks, and I like that kind of perfection.   Now I watch him do tricks like double hardflips and cab heelflips.  I feel proud in a way because I knew he was going to get good even when all he was working with was a kickflip.  Every time I see him at the park I have to ask him to play a game of SKATE with me.  One reason is because he’s the only kid that gives me a challenge, but maybe the real reason is because I want to see his new tricks.

A few years ago I came up with a set of questions about skateboarding.  These were Ryan’s answers.

How do you overcome fear?
