Nick Kasitch

Nick was always at the skatepark but I never really got to know him.  I remember him always skating with the main crew of skaters, but from what I saw he focused on his own tricks and didn’t care about what everyone else was doing.  Looking back, I think Nick understood style.

At one of the local contests when I was announcing, Nick was trying caveman bluntslides down the hubba at the end of his run.  He tried till his time ran out and then it was free-skate.  I could tell he still wanted it, so I told him through the microphone to keep trying.  He gave it his all to no avail, but I’m sure he got it some other time.  He has moved away from our scene now, but with his humble demeanor I can only hope he continues to skateboard.

A few years ago I came up with a set of questions about skateboarding.  These were Nick’s answers.

Why do you keep skating?
