Andy Niece

In my opinion, skateboarding needs humor.  A lot of people take skating too seriously and get angry when they aren’t doing what they want.  Screaming, throwing, and breaking often ensues.    Humor can be defined in the dictionary as comical or amusing entertainment.  That is exactly what skateboarding should be, and I think Andy would agree.

Skating with him always put a smile on my face, whether from something he said or the way he skated.  Somehow his skating embodies a sense of humor.  Even though his video displays a lower level on the gnar or tech scale, he is still doing tricks that no one else has done in the park.  As The Gonz said, “Use your head, be creative, that’s what skateboarding’s about.”  Andy’s answer’s reflect his skating’s “humor” perfectly.

A few years ago I came up with a set of questions about skateboarding.  These were Andy’s answers.

Why work so hard for a trick?
-I don’t, the trick works for me.
